Trainers, mark your calendars. Our next test goes live Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 AM PDT, and we need you in the region.

One thing to know before you download: this build runs on a hard reset. Progress from earlier builds does not carry across, so everybody starts on the same fresh save and the same empty economy. It is the cleanest look we will ever get at how this world behaves with real players living in it.

New Since the Spring Demo

It has been a while since you last set foot in the region. Here is what landed while you were away.

  • An all new Battle Engine. Rewritten from the ground up, with faithful Gen-5 style move animations layered on top.
  • Minimap & Full-scale Map. We heard your complaints about finding your way, and about finding grass. Exploring is no longer a guessing game.
  • The Johto Trading System. Our player marketplace, live in every major city. List, browse, buy, and collect your earnings.
  • Idle Station Jobs. Queue up crafting and smelting orders that keep working while you are logged out, then come back and collect.
  • A Full Stat Sheet. Your Trainer Profile now counts everything: encounters, captures, shinies, PvP records, and every tree you have ever felled.

This is your look at everything else on the table this month. Some of it is battle-tested, some of it is brand new and hungry for feedback, and all of it is better with a crowd. Here is what you will be putting through its paces.

Battle & Adventure

At its heart, PokéForce is about Pokémon battles, and this build runs on an all new Gen-7 battle engine, rewritten from the ground up since the Spring Demo.

  • Turn-Based Battles with moves, types, abilities, status, weather, PP, and critical hits, wrapped in an in-battle bag and a level-up stat window.
  • Move Animations in the Gen-5 style, faithful to the games you grew up with.
  • Wild Encounters that trigger as you step through grass, pulled from per-patch encounter tables.
  • Pokémon Capture with real catch-rate math: ball multipliers, shakes, and critical captures.
  • Trainer Battles against NPCs, complete with pre-battle dialogue and a PokéYen payout.
  • Gym Challenges & Badges where you clear a gym's trainers before facing its leader.
  • PvP Battles, with optional stakes: wager items and PokéYen into escrow, pick a level cap, and the winner takes the pot.

Raising Your Team

  • Party & PC Storage for managing your six-slot team and stashing the rest across storage boxes (drag freely between them, rename boxes, and release Pokémon you no longer need).
  • Pokémon Summary sheets with a full stat radar, moves, and details, which you can even share right in chat.
  • Evolution with on-screen confirm/cancel sequences for both level-up and stone evolutions.
  • Move Tutor & TM System to relearn moves or teach single-use TMs.
  • Overworld Followers so your lead Pokémon walks right behind you, shiny and all.

Life Skills

Battling is only half the region. Level up a full set of gathering and crafting skills:

  • Foraging (berry and item picking) and Woodcutting out in the wild.
  • Mining rocks and ores for materials and geodes.
  • Farming: plant seeds, wait for them to grow, and harvest the yield.
  • Crafting and Smithing to turn raw materials into gear at tables, forges, and anvils.
  • Idle Station Jobs: queue up crafting and smelting orders that keep working even while you walk away or log out. Come back later and collect. Overhead billboards show your progress at a glance.

Jobs & Treasure

  • The Job Board hands out randomized daily contracts (defeat, capture, and gather objectives) with live progress tracking on your HUD.
  • Clue Scrolls & Treasure Trails: read a clue, follow the trail step by step, dig up the reward, and crack open your casket.
  • Trainer Rank, a progression track fed by the jobs you complete.

The Economy

PokéForce has a living, player-driven economy, and it only comes alive with players in it. This is exactly the kind of thing we need a crowd to stress-test, and with a fresh database, every single PokéYen in the world this weekend will have been earned by a player.

  • The Johto Trading System, our community marketplace. Find a branch in any major city to list, browse, and buy Pokémon and items, then come back to collect your earnings.
  • Peer Trading for direct, face-to-face swaps of items, PokéYen, and Pokémon.
  • PokéMarts and Local Markets for stocking up. PokéMarts carry a fixed range, while Markets rotate their shelves as the day turns.
  • The Shipping Box, found in local shops, is how you sell. Drop in anything you do not want: leave it overnight for the full value, or take an instant sale at 80%.
  • The PokéBank with multiple tabs to organize your items and PokéYen.
  • A little Coin Flip on the side, for the brave.

Community & Your Trainer

  • Multi-Channel Chat (Global, Local, Trade, and Guild), private whispers, tear-off chat windows, and overworld speech bubbles.
  • Friends List and Guilds, each with their own chat channel.
  • Leaderboards & Collection Logs to show off your progress.
  • Character Customizer for your gender, hair, and skin tone, plus cosmetic clothing from the Boutique.
  • A Trainer Profile with three tabs, tracking your rank, money, Pokédex, guild and skill levels, your gear, and a full stat sheet: playtime, encounters, captures, shinies, PvP records, and every tree felled and rock mined.
  • A personality-quiz-driven Starter Selection that can earn you a bonus companion.

Exploring the Region

  • A Johto you have not walked before. Every town and route you remember is here, redrawn from the ground up. And then the map keeps going, into a large slate of custom regions, routes and landmarks built for PokéForce and found nowhere else. Knowing Johto by heart will not save you here.
  • Walk, run, bike, and raft your way across it.
  • The Minimap & Full-scale Map keep you oriented as you roam, so a region this size never turns into a maze.
  • A full Day/Night Cycle and Weather system, with a HUD clock and weather readout.
  • Warps, doors, location banners, region music, and a Quest Tracker with a compass arrow and overhead world marker pointing you at your next objective.
  • Quality-of-life throughout: a paged action-bar hotbar, buff indicators, notifications, keybind and audio/video settings, server-update countdowns, and even Discord Rich Presence.

Still in the Oven

A few things are not quite ready for this test, but they are coming soon:

  • More Life Skills: Fishing, Cooking, Construction, and Archaeology are on the way.
  • Richer Trainer Profiles, including viewing other players' profiles.
  • Player health: can you survive the harsh region of Johto?
  • And more!

See You on the 30th

The doors open Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 AM PDT and stay open until Monday, August 3 at 5:00 PM PDT. Round up your team, tell a friend, and come break things so we can build them stronger.

Download PokéForce

Grab the client now rather than on the day, so you are playing at 11:00 instead of watching a progress bar. Then join us on Discord to be in the room when the servers open.

Found a bug? Think something is priced wrong? Got an idea we have not thought of? All three have a home on the Discord, each in its own channel. Whatever you bring us during this test directly shapes what PokéForce becomes.

See you in PokéForce soon! The PokéForce Staff Team
